About
This six-day journey follows the Ganga out of the plains and up into the Kumaon hills. It begins at Haridwar, where the river is at its most devotional — the evening aarti at Har Ki Pauri, lamps set on the water, temple bells across the ghats. It moves on to Rishikesh, greener and quieter, with its footbridges, riverside ashrams and the option of a morning on the rapids. Then the road climbs to Nainital, a lake town ringed by forest where the pace slows to boat rides and walks along the Mall. The shift from sacred river towns to Himalayan lake country is the whole idea of the route.
